Yay, CVS

I guess watching those CVS sales pays off. Just when we needed shampoo and conditioner, I found some. With three girls and me, all with long hair, we go through a lot of it. However, I like to use the good stuff. As in, NOT Suave or VO5 or White Rain. That stuff is crap for your hair.

Lucky for me, CVS had a deal on Herbal Essence this week. Buy 1 at $2.99, get 1 ECB. Limit of 5. I bought two shampoos and two conditioners, using two $3 off 2 coupons from the P&G insert on Feb. 8th. I paid with $6 in ECBs and got $4 in ECBs back. I paid a few pennies of tax out of my pocket.

I love free stuff. And it's even better when it's free, right when you need it.

Back to CVS

Why did I fall out of the CVS habit? I have no idea. Lazy, I guess. You forget what great stuff you can get there for pennies.

Well, I decided to kick my CVS habit in the butt yesterday. Middle daughter wanted some haircolor (which is a disaster all the way around, but I'm not going there), and I noticed that they had some ECBs back on my husband's favorite razor.

My first trip wasn't a big deal, but I figure it's a start. I got:

One Gillette Fusion razor, $7.99. Used the $4 mf cpn in the PG insert from last week. 4 ECBs.
One box Garnier haircolor, $5.99. Used $2 mf cpn from the 12/7 Red Plum, I think. 2 ECBs.

I paid $9 plus change out of pocket, and got $6 back in ECBs.

I was going to get the 25 count makeup remover pads that were 99 cents, and you get 2 ECBs when you buy two, but they were out of those. So I have $6 in ECBs to roll into next week. Woo!

Still Here, Still Trying

I just made my weekly trip to Fry's, and thanks to their Buy 10 Items get $3 back promotion, plus coupons, I spent $89 this week and saved $115. That's 57%. It's more than I was planning on spending, but considering food prices these days, I still don't think it's too bad for a family of five.

I splurged a bit this week and did some stocking...my normal grocery bills have been hovering around $70 a week. Of course, now that hubby is living in Denver, I guess you would say we're a family of four, but I really don't shop any differently than I do if he were here.

I just looked on Fry's website to try and find a store with a fuel center, because on the bottom of my receipt it says I have until Feb. 28th to redeem my Jan. points balance of $581. That means I could fill up 5 times for 10 cents off a gallon, I think?

The problem is, the nearest store to me with gas is 10 miles away, so a 20 mile round trip. If I fill up, that's 20 gallons. If I save 10 cents a gallon, I'm saving a whopping $2.00 on a tank of gas. Hardly seems worth it to drive 20 miles to save $2.00, so of course I won't be doing that. I wish they'd put a fuel center in a Fry's in Chandler!
